I was born in Santiago and lived in Antofagasta and Valdivia (Chile). In Valdivia I completed my high school and my university studies.  I graduated (profesional title) as a Informatics Engineer in 2014 and since then I have worked at Universidad Austral de Chile (UACH) performing research and deployment work and teaching. Between 2011 and 2017 I studied under the advise of Peter Brusilovsky at the School of Computing and Information at University of Pittsburgh, and got my Ph.D. degree in 2017 with the thesis «Open Learner Models for Self-Regulated Learning: Exploring the Effects of Social Comparison and Granularity». My research has been always focused in technology in education. During my Ph.D. studies I worked with open learner models and developed, deployed and evaluated visualizations that incorporates social comparison features. As part of the Informatics Institute and School at UACh, I research in topics related to learning analytics, information visualization, data mining and engineering education. I am also part of the Informatics School Counsel at UACh and the (recently crated) Informatics Master program at UACh, where I teach and direct master students’ theses.
